Can I colour-code appointments?

From version 3 Academic Calendar implements colout-coding of appointments if you are using Outlook 2007 or 2010.  Earlier version of Outlook do not support colour coding.

When you use Academic Calendar to create term dates and timetabled sessions the appointments created are automatically given categories.  When a new category is added to Outlook's category list in these version it is automatically assigned a colour.

The appointment below is one that has been created for a timetabled period.  Note that it has been given two categories My time table 09 and En-11-1A 09 (the name of the class plus the school year). These are visible as lozenges just above the subject line.

Note that when you enter lessons in the Timetable section of the setup screen you must make sure that any entries that refer to the same class must use exactly the same name.  If you take En-11--1A on Monday and also on Wednesday you must use exactly the same name.   If the names are exactly the same Outlook will create a single category for all of them but if they are different they will each get their own category and colour.

If you want to change the colours allocated to each category then use Outlook's Categorize button and select All Categories at the bottom of the list.  The window that appears lets you select a category and then change its name or colour.

To learn about using Outlook's Category view click here .  The page is about how to delete multiple appointments but it contains an explanation of Category View.
